It’s a beautiful neighbourhood. A ghetto that is unfortunately now being gentrified. The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople which is one of the autosephalous churches of the Eastern Orthodox Church is located here. Check the St. Sveti Bulgarian Orthodox Church as well. Both magnificient pieces of architecture.

Balat is colorful and scenic. If you want to take a lot of photos and walk around, that's the place to go.

this location is very historical and full of nice cafes.. it has a nice texture of nostalgic architecture in the neighbourhood.

The special significance of Balat in the history of Istanbul is that Jews from Spain were settled here and that it continued to exist as the main Jewish quarter until recently. It is home to many colorful and different structures. It is an interesting and fun neighborhood to visit. It is 30 minutes away by taxi.

This neighborhood of Istanbul was once known as the Jewish quarter of the city. Today you can still find many synagogues here, as well as a more diverse group of residents.
