Cottage at Lake Tranquility

Located beside 3.5-acre lake (private) with deck overlooking a pasture and swans ... a peaceful getaway. Upstairs is a loft with twin beds and small office. Electric heating and A/C make it very cozy. A queen-sized bedroom on the first-floor, kitchen, bathroom with shower, and laundry room. The living area is directly above horse stalls in the basement. We have isolated that area from the living spaces, but if you are extremely sensitive to farm odors you might prefer to stay somewhere else.

Enjoy a comfortable and convenient experience at this centrally-located (and beautifully renovated) 1900's farmhouse. Located along US-19 just off of the Portersville exit off of I-79: 3 miles from Moraine State Park, 2.5 miles from McConnell's Mill, and 5 miles from Cooper's Lake Event Venue and Campground. This is the perfect place to wind down & get cozy after a day of exploring nearby sites (Pittsburgh - 35 min., New Wilmington to visit the Amish - 25 min., Zelienople - 13 min.)!

Gwen's Cottage at Water's Edge

Gwen’s Cottage is located on the privately owned and operated estate, Water’s Edge, which was recently re-established in January 2022 by Western Pennsylvania native, Gwendolyn Reno. This cottage is a newly renovated, 490sqft, studio-style accommodation, perched along side the Slippery Rock Creek adjacent to McConnells Mill State Park. This charming cottage has a wrap around deck that quite literally over-looks the creek and faces the state park land located just across the water.

Secluded along the banks of the Slippery Rock Creek is the 4th generation family cottage, fully renovated in 2017, originally built in 1940. Descend the 45 steps to the cottage and find “there’s no place like (a 2nd) home”. From the wraparound deck you may see geese, deer, bald eagles, osprey, beaver, great blue heron and ducks. You will find yourself just 15 minutes from Moraine and McConnells Mill State Parks. 15 minutes from Mines and Meadows, 10 minutes from Sunset Ranch.

Peaceful and relaxing authentic log cabin home nestled on 5 acres bordering Moraine State Park. This spacious home is a Haven for those seeking a tranquil escape. Includes large open living room and fully stocked kitchen. Hosts 4 bedrooms and a large balcony overlooking the woods. Other amenities include wifi, smart televisions, a grill, and a fire pit. The finished basement has arcade games and board games. Moraine State Park is minutes away or hike / bike from the home.

The Great Escape

As one of our guests noted: “This home is named perfectly. It was a great escape." We invite you to stay in our small but cozy house in the very quiet "Pittsburgh Circle" area of town. The property backs onto a greenbelt - down a sharp embankment you can see the Connoquenessing Creek - which you can enjoy from the covered patio or the breakfast table in front of the large window. We have seen deer, groundhogs, hawks, and even a bald eagle!
