With the famous trout fishing river the Waikaia River just a short (800m) walk from the doorstep, it's easy to take some time out for a fish or a walk. Waikaia and Piano flat are just up the road. Piano Flat is a hidden gem with the locals as some of the best hunting, fishing, walks and many more activites of the area.

Old farm hut, near Winton , Central Southland

Situated 10 mins from the township of Winton, central Southland. We are a sheep and crop farm, good views over the paddocks from the hut deck. All the basics you need, bed, chair, table, kitchen, bathroom and then your own outside eating area and bath on the deck under the veranda. Nearest town is Winton 10 mins away , with supermarket, choice of places to eat or takeaway. A great spot in central Southland 2 hr Queenstown, 45 min Invercargill, 1hr 10 Te Anau, 35 m Riverton Beach

This peaceful, hill top, studio room is just a 10 minute amble to the town’s parks, gardens, cafes, shops and restaurants. Wifi, TV, microwave and small refrigerator, kettle and toaster with basic kitchen cutlery and crockery, teas and coffees supplied. Brand new bathroom. Private entry and driveway with undercover parking. The decor is eclectic and there are two outdoor seating options. The garden is shared. Guest access by key lock. Check in from 3pm and check out by noon.

The Millers Flat Tavern is open for meals Pinders Pond is a local swimming attraction. Highland Bike hire in Roxburgh has ebikes for hire.

Sweetacres Cottage

Located on a working farm on the main tourist route, within an hour of Queenstown and Te Anau. We are right on the doorstep of the Round the Mountain Rail trail and adjacent to the Oreti River which is famous for its fishing. The accommodation has recently been renovated to meet the needs of both cyclists and fishermen alike. There is ample storage and charging for bikes. Close to Lumsden township where you can stop for coffee at one of the cafes and stock up on amenities.

Situated around 10 km south of Roxburgh, in the heart of the Teviot Valley famous for its fruit production, 5km from the Clutha cycle trail, surrounded by the epic Central Otago hillscapes. There are endless activities just on it's doorstep including cycling, tramping, fruit picking and all that the famous Central Otago region has to offer.

The Lodge at Tikana

The Lodge at Tikana in central Southland is nestled among fertile southern hills which are home to a herd of majestic stud Wapiti deer. The tranquility of the rural setting is enhanced by the unique ambience of the straw bale construction. In its former life the Lodge catered to the needs of high end tourists traveling in Southland The Lodge was purpose built in 2003 by a craftsman builder with the juxtaposition of old and new blending seamlessly.
