Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay while enjoying the quiet peaceful outdoors. This RUSTIC cottage is centrally located on the shores of Unity Pond and is a short drive to both Bangor and Belfast. Enjoy listening to the loons from the screened in porch or a peaceful kayak ride while the kids swim off the private dock. The cottage is rustic renters should be aware there is a composting toilet and lake drawn water to an outdoor shower with propane hot water.

The Barn

I call my place "The Barn" because as I was finishing it it took the shape and feel of a barn. It's not a barn. It's a quiet post and beam open concept building (a Jamaica Cottages kit) set among the fields of Appleton, Maine. You'll sleep in the loft or on a futon on the main floor. The bathroom is huge, 10X10, with a heated floor. It's an open concept kitchen and living space. From Appleton you are 20 miles away from the tourist destinations of Camden, Rockland, and Belfast.

Halcyon Ridge

Halcyon Ridge is owned by Lynn & Chuck Hadyniak, who live nearby. Lynn & Chuck moved out of New Jersey years ago to get away from the hustle & bustle, & raise a family in peace. They love Freedom for its quiet & natural beauty, & would love to host people at Halcyon Ridge who also want to escape the noise. Stargazers will be delighted: low humidity, expansive view of the southeastern sky, & next to no light pollution, make for wonderful viewing. Rest. Relax. Recharge.
