Misty Mountain Hut - Ruapehu

Misty Mountain Hut-Ruapehu is located in the sleepy little village of Rangataua, 5 minutes distance to Mountain road going up to the Turoa skifield and Ohakune. The 1 bedroom colonial villa has a beautiful view of the mountain. Unlimited wifi and a new firebox with plenty of firewood and a heat pump ensure you are warm in winter. My favourite time here is summer for amazing walks/cycling up mountains to enjoy majestic views. Misty Mountain Hut supports local staff by paying $40/hr for cleaning.

We provide a SUPER comfy queen bed, ensuite, air con, private deck, wifi, Smart TV with streaming services and a kitchenette with microwave, jug, toaster, sandwich press and minifridge. A simple delicious breakfast and hot drink supplies also await. The perfect place for a stopover on your road trip, or to set up as a central base!

Come back in time with us. Just 24km from State Highway 1 you enter the hidden world of Rangiwahia. Rangiwahia is quiet, ideal for downtime or a good nights sleep whilst travelling. Enjoy relaxing on a sun soaked back porch with birds swooping by, or cuddle up by the fire when it's chilly. 3 neighbouring Native Reserves give a range of Bush walks. It's a great base for local activities. Clear creek to cool down in or great swimming holes only a short drive. We are on the NZ Cycle trail.

Opened in 2022, DuxHouse BnB is conveniently located in Taihape's Motel District on SH1. We are centrally located in the beautiful Rangitikei in the Central North Island. Tongariro NP (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is just over 45 mins away. Perfect for hiking in summer, or snow fun in winter. Central towns, such as Whanganui and Palmerston North are just over an hour away. Further afield are Napier (2hrs), Taupo (2 hrs), and Wellington (3hrs) making Taihape the perfect central pitstop.

The Historic Shearers Quarters are located 11 kms from SH1, on a working farm that has remained in the family for four generations. We are based in the beautiful Kawhatau Valley. A unique accommodation in the heart of the Rangitikei. Light the old shacklock stove, sit back and enjoy peace and quiet- all while only 10 mins from the superb Dukes Roadhouse Cafe. Please note this is a Historic Shearer's Quarters. If you have mobility issues please be aware there are no ramps and only steps.

"The Unit" is a Private self contained space away from the main house at the rear of the Garage. It is cosy with views of the countryside. Located 3 minutes up the hill from Taihape township. The Unit gives you all the comforts of home on your journey so you can relax and enjoy your stay. Taihape is a farming town and with the Main Highway going right through it's centre, plenty of choice for dining out. Taihape is commonly Warm summer and cold winter weather. We cater for both.

The Last Church in Apiti

The Last Church in Āpiti is the ultimate escape to relax and discover the stunning Manawatū. In 2021, we were recognised by the NZ Herald as one of the top wellness retreats to visit. Located in the quaint village of Āpiti, set in a valley at the base of the Ruahine Ranges, this renovated Sunday School is a cosy and quirky base to explore the ranges, glow worms, swimming holes, and more. We have a roaring wood burner fire and an outdoor cast iron bath tub for you to enjoy.

Cosy in the Centre of Ohakune

This one bedroom apartment is on the ground floor of our family home (we live on the 2nd and 3rd floors). It is in the middle of Ohakune, halfway between Turoa Junction and Ohakune centre. They're a walks close by, Turoa is 20 minutes drive away and we have a list of walks that are nearby and suit a range of people. Parking is right in front of the apartment as per the photos in the listing. Our house manual also has a list of the best spots in Ohakune to check out.

Whether you're coming to Waiouru for a specific occasion, or just for some well-earned R&R, this is the place you've been looking for - comfortable beds, endless hot water and free WiFi. Close to skiing, fishing, hunting, tramping and bike trails - and the highest 18-hole golf course in New Zealand is only minutes away. Mordor and Mt Doom are just up the road. Or you can explore our country's history and your own part in it at the National Army Museum.

This newly renovated self contained unit is in the beautiful Kawhatau Valley, Mangaweka on a small sheep and beef farm. Five minutes off State Highway One, this accommodation is only two kms up the road from the famous Rangitikei river and the popular Awastone licenced cafe (open Nov-March). Handy place to stay if fishing, rafting, cycling or just wanting a quiet country retreat or stopover.
