Our mountain sanctuary

Come relax and play in the great outdoors. Our area is abundant with lakes, rivers, waterfalls and hiking (the Appalachian trail is just a mile away). Our rustic cabin is built from 1875 hand hewn logs and is located on Spivey Creek in Unicoi County Tennessee. The towns of Erwin TN and Burnsville NC are just down the mountain for shopping convenience. For the arts, entertainment and airport convenience Asheville NC and Johnson City TN are less than an hour away. Come stay in our lovely cabin.

Eli Reeves Cabin at Hobbyknob farm

This two story log cabin was originally built in 1820 by Eli Reeves, an Indiana furniture maker. In the fall of 2015 it was moved log by log to our farm and was restored to feel like you stepped back in time but with very special touches. If these logs could talk! The first word most guests say is "wow" and we worked hard to earn that. We set out to create something special that would stand out to share with guests. Come experience this piece of history and make some memories of your own.

Historic 1800s cabin - Asheville / Weaverville

Charming, comfy, historic cabin with modern amenities in a very private & quiet country setting just 20 minutes to downtown Asheville, 25 minutes to West Asheville and a short 10 minute drive to Weaverville. * This cabin has been on Airbnb since 2012. We bought it from our friend, Caroline, in the fall of 2021. However, we've managed it since 2015. Airbnb doesn't allow transfers of listings so we have to start fresh. Welcome to The Understory. Nestled deep in the rhododendron covered woods, this romantic hand-crafted tiny home offers you a peaceful and memorable stay just 15 minutes from both Asheville and Black Mountain. The comfortable living space includes a rain shower, king sized bed in a lofted sleeping area, cozy wood stove and a full kitchen. Enjoy a coffee or local craft beer while unplugging from everyday life and listening to the native wildlife.
