Summer Kitchen - The Inn and Tavern at Meander

This private and exceptionally romantic suite in our Virginia bed and breakfast was the original plantation kitchen. Located in a separate building, it is joined to the Manor House by a covered Jeffersonian brick archway. The Summer Kitchen features a large sitting room on the first floor, with gas firelogs in the huge Colonial cook-fireplace. The spacious bedroom upstairs has a king-size bed and fireplace. The private bath has a large soaking tub and shower. Light and airy with hand-refinished floors throughout, this architectural and historic treasure offers breathtaking Blue Ridge mountain views and vistas of verdant rolling pastures and woods. This suite is pet-friendly and has in-room Wi-Fi access.

Madison Cottage - The Inn and Tavern at Meander

Sophistication, drama and privacy - this cottage provides a romantic getaway in Virginia like no other. Located just across the back gardens from the Manor House, Madison Cottage has a queen-size black pencil post bed, dressed with high-end updated linens and 600 thread count sheets. This room offers a more contemporary feel with historic character. The most alluring feature of this recently updated cottage is the incredible two-person spa shower with rainfall, hand-held and regular shower heads and multiple body jets. Entrance to the pet friendly cottage is through a gorgeous private garden with a trickling gold fish pond and terrace. The cottage features a gas log fireplace and in-room Wi-Fi.

Shearer Suite - The Inn and Tavern at Meander

This elegant and refined two-room suite is upstairs in the Manor House of our Virginia Wine Country bed and breakfast and opens onto an inviting upstairs porch with magnificent Blue Ridge mountain views. The gracious, private sitting room is decorated in gold, ivory and Chinese reds and features an Oriental rug on the pine floor, a gas fireplace and wingback chairs. The dramatically decorated bedroom has a cherry queen four-poster bed piled with elegant linens and pillows. The private bath offers an over-sized soaking tub with shower. The suite is a tribute to former owners, the Shearer sisters, taste and refinement and has in-room Wi-Fi.

Mr. Jefferson's Suite - The Inn and Tavern at Meander

President Jefferson stayed here many times and was a lifelong friend of our original Colonial family. We are sure this would have been his room on visits. This expansive upstairs suite has a private staircase and features two queen-size beds, antiques, refinished original pine floors, wing back chairs, an Oriental rug and an adjacent sitting area with in-room Wi-Fi. The en suite bathroom is but a few steps from the bedroom and features a soaking tub and shower. The upstairs porch is only steps away, offering spectacular mountain views and fantastic sunsets.

The Lightfoot Room - The Inn and Tavern at Meander

The Lightfoot Room is an elegant, large downstairs room in the Manor House with a private outside entrance overlooking the gardens and fountain, and offers in room Wi-Fi. Named for owners of the property during the Civil War, Lightfoot has gleaming heart pine floors, antiques, wing back chairs, corner gas log fireplace and king bed with luxurious linens in beautiful shades of an updated green toile, giving nod to the age of the 1766 house with bright, large windows. Groom's Cottage - The Inn and Tavern at Meander

A charming, private cottage near the stables, Washington Cottage and Madison Cottage. Enjoy spectacular mountain views and breathtaking sunsets steps away from the main house at our romantic Virginia inn. The Groom's Cottage, which originally housed the groomsmen caring for the horses, features a king size bed with elegant linens, newly refinished heart pine floors and newly renovated private bath with tub and spa shower.
