The Tower, Thornton Castle

The Star Hut at Rannoch Station

Unique, single-room glass-fronted hut in a silver birch/rowan wood on a small hill, full of character with a spectacular view 25 miles to the East. Rannoch Moor is a place of peace and tranquillity, there is no noise (after the 9.05pm train) and no light pollution. Weather permitting, you can watch the stars and sunrise while lying in bed, see deer walking in the wood, experience being cosy in the midst of dramatic weather or listen to the dawn chorus. The lodge is a lovely place to slow down—whether you’re soaking in the hot tub, curling up by the wood-burning stove, or enjoying the hills. Thornbank is a snug and simple timber built holiday cottage in the heart of the village of Braemar.  Paragliding, mountain biking, skiing, walking or perhaps a relaxing holiday at one with nature?  Here you can indulge in all the activities that the Upper Dee Valley and Cairngorms National Park have to offer, then return to a cosy hearth and home. We are located in the centre of the village, but set back behind the road in a quiet spot with woods to the rear.
