Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

K's Villa Kamogawa-an is an authentic Kyoto style wooden house located right beside the Kamo river only 3 mins walk from Shichijo station. I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

Our house is a privately reserved traditional Kyoto machiya townhouse. Unlike a hotel, the entire house is exclusively for your group, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful and authentic stay in a local Kyoto neighbourhood. Inside the house you will find traditional tatami rooms, natural materials such as wood and clay walls, and a small garden with an open-air bath featuring a Shigaraki ceramic tub. To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

「Tabitabi Moonlight」 is a traditional two-storey machiya , which was built in the Taisho era with more than one hundred years history. We retain the original properties of the machiya by using a lot of wood materials, and design of hollow-out and high ceilings and embellishment of cement and steel elements give this house a sense of modernity. Here, you can experience the original and traditional Japan, and also the ingenuity of combining modern elements with traditional craftsmanship.

As featured on the NYTimes T list, this property is a "Kyomachiya", a traditional Japanese home over 100 years old. It has been revamped from a "Nishijin-ori" (traditional Japanese textile) factory. It is located in the traditional Kamigyo Ward, minutes walk from the Imperial Palace. We collaborated with award winning architects at Ikken to renovate this space, which now accommodates the comforts of modern life, while retaining many of the original structure and elements from its past.

There are wooden deck besides living space, you will have relaxing time at the wooden deck with garden view. Electric bikes are rent for free.
