Design Cottage Close to Icelandic Countryside & Reykjavik

Step into one of the oldest homes in town, dating from 1884. Curated by the owners of the design studio Reykjavík Trading Co., The Garden Cottage has been completely remodeled to provide a unique feeling, with a lot of the furniture handmade or meticulously crafted and selected from their travels to California, Scandinavia & Mexico. The land behind The Garden Cottage is home to their designed greenhouse, communal garden, chickens and their most recent addition, The Shed which is their workshop / shop where you can visit for a coffee, buy pieces or see their process of making objects. Curated by the owners & designers of Reykjavík Trading Co. (an Icelandic / California homeware company) the Garden Cottage is their first project of creating a home space for guests to experience a unique & cozy feeling while visiting Iceland. The bottom floor of the 1884 built home has been completely remodeled for guests. Everything in the home has been either made by hand by R.T.Co. or selected from their collection of preferred products & appliances. Anthony Bacigalupo & Ýr Káradóttir, the owners of The Garden Cottage, live & work in the separate upper part of the historic home & their R.T.Co. workshop is located in the back of the garden for guests to visit, learn about the pieces being crafted, or just to have a cup of coffee. We wanted to create a place for guests to experience "slow living" & create a special stay. Having designed spaces for hotels, cafes, bars we decided to put our inspiration & collection into this project & build something completely one-of-a-kind in Iceland. The home was built in 1884 & we have been remodeling & bringing back the style it once was but also bringing back the garden & farm style that was once so prominent back in the day. We believe in hospitality to the fullest which sadly doesn't exist anymore in places. Since we live on the property we can answer any questions you have or have you in for a coffee if you need help deciding your journey in Iceland. The cottage is in the oldest part of Hafnarfjörður, a small harbor town. There are great farm-to-table restaurants, bakeries, live music, artist studios and swimming pools nearby. It’s conveniently located across the road from the town’s bus terminal. The house has three stories but is broken into two flats- we live on the upper floors with our children with separate driveway and front door- but we are here for anything you need or to have a coffee in the greenhouse! Our little town can be easily walked around & explored. Shuttle stops for airport & Blue Lagoon are 3 minutes walk next to the ocean & the bus terminal into Reykjavík is close as well.

Head to Reykjavik from a Modern Home

Blending blues, browns, and greys, the decor of this home has an inviting, calm ambiance reminiscent of Iceland's breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy high-up views from the windows, refresh under the rain shower, and sit out on the private terrace. Around the corner you will find the best bakery in town, Braud&Co and our local supermarket Kronan. New pictures coming, some changes, new furniture, infrared sauna from Saunaspace etc. Quiet and wonderful apartment with everything you need. New, very clean and spacious. If travelling from KEF Airport to Reykjavik area with the flybus, exit in Gardabaer at Aktu Taktu. Ask the bus driver to stop there. From there you need a taxi to Ljosakur or ask me for a pick up. A rental car is better :) We live above so don't hesitate to contact us. We will help and try to make your stay in Iceland perfect. Or enjoy the privacy. The home is in a great neighborhood that features a nice garden and playground with swimming pools, golf courses and a sports arena nearby. Reykjavik is a short drive away providing access to museums and exquisite restaurants. This is one of the safest place you can find in the city. We recommend to rent a car at the airport (KEF). It's easy to find your ways with a smartphone. If you don't have internet on your smartphone you can use our GPS (Garmin), it's in the apartment in the top drawer under the TV. Swimming pool, hot tubs, gym and golf courses very nearby. Heidmork, one of the most beautiful nature area near the city is nearby. Perfect for walking or cycling. Supermarkets, bakeries, stores and restaurants are near. A new supermaket (Kronan) is in walking distance.

We want to offer you to stay in our pleasant apartment located in Breiðholt, Reykjavík. The apartment is located on the ground floor in our house with its own entrance. It comes equipped with all necessities; a bathroom with a shower, two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and an outdoor terrace. Hraðastaðir Horse riding & Farm

Studio apartment located on a farm only 20 minutes from Reykjavík!:) on the way to the golden circle which offers room for two people. Come and stay at our farm and visit our wonderful animals and/or get fresh egg from our chickens in the morning to cook in the apartment. There are also fun experiences around our farm such as a lot of beautiful hiking trails, horse riding and more. It's a very good location to plan day trips from. If there are northern lights you can see right outside the door.

Cosy cottage with SAUNA. Excellent location.

Exellent location between Airport (30 min.) and Reykjavík (15.min Central). The Cottage is downtown Hafnarfjörður, close to the harbour, a walking distance from Restaurants, Coffee shops, Tourist info, cute little shops, supermarket and a central bus stop. Taking a SAUNA after a long day is a real treat and the "outside" shower (with hot and cold water) is a great experience. The farm is settled in the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. Powerful mountains all around, sound of the fresh salmon-river, waterfall in the breath taking canyon. Aurora Borealis from your window, when the conditions are right. Great for getting away. Relax or be creative. Mindful hiking in the untouched nature and enjoy farm live. Middle of nowhere, and yet it is only 22 km. drive from Reykjavik City Center. Many points of interest are within easy reach like the Golden Circle, 2 min.

Our luxurious home with 360 aurora views is located in an exquisite nature park on the outskirts of Reykjavík. It has a well stocked kitchen, elegant furniture, a beautiful bathroom and comfortable new beds, one king and one queen. The third room/office is open with one single bed and beautiful sunset views. Surrounding the property is a beautiful lava garden with a deck that offers spectacular views on the nature park, lots of hikes, a romantic lake and nearby new volcano and Blue Lagoon.

The Secret Cabin with hot tube in Nature Reserve

The location is exceptional, located hillside in a beautiful nature reserve, still very close to the downtown Reykjavik, 20 min drive. In winter Dec-March 4x4 car is essential in Iceland. No public transport. Enjoy the hot tube in the evening and watch for the Northern Lights, then rest inside and amid wood paneling that extends to the vaulted ceilings, and look out forest-wards from the deck. The International airport is 40-50 minutes drive. Ideal located for exploring the South West.

Luxurious studio

Modern 35 m2 studio in a residential neighborhood. It is located in a separate house on our private property. It has a huge garden, a private patio with a BBQ. It is very well equipped to make everyone feel at home away from home. Reykjavik centrum is 10 km away. The kitchen has all necessary appliances and cutlery. Sleeping arrangement is a queen size bed and a sleeping sofa with down duvets and pillows. The bathroom is nicely decorated with a large walk in shower and a washer/dryer

Esjuberg Farm-Sleep with horses & mountain hike

Welcome to the newly renovated farmhouse in Esjuberg, where you sleep by the roots of the mountain. This house truly has it all, from a beautiful ocean view, horses in the backyard, and a phenomenal view over Reykjavik. Esjuberg plays a big part in a very interesting Icelandic Viking story called the Kjalnesinga Saga. In this story, a woman named Esja lived here along with her foster son Búi, who became a very mighty man.
