Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Bungalow 252 is a secluded hilltop cedar home getaway. Magnificent 130 degree view of the ocean, Mt. Baker and the Cascades. Hardwood flooring. Eagles, bats, deer and raccoons abound. BBQ, watch boats and occasionally orcas from the deck. Nicely stocked full kitchen. Wood stove. Pod coffee maker with coffee, chai, hot chocolate. 3D HDTV with streaming. High speed WIFI (100 MBPS upstairs, slower downstairs), cell service. Games, books, DVDs, binoculars, telescope. Soap, shampoo, conditioner.

Yurt camping in Doe Bay area

Relax in a spacious yurt on the side of Mount Pickett next to Moran State Park. Less than a five minute drive to Doe Bay Resort. Twelve miles past Eastsound on the Horseshoe Highway and 20 miles from the ferry landing. The yurt has an outdoor kitchen space with a camp stove and most of the utensils for preparing and serving food. There is an outdoor fire spot and a picnic table for outdoor relaxing and dining. There is also an outdoor shower and outhouse with a composting toilet.

Come stay in our newly built private guest suite which is attached to the main house, but very private. Private entry via the porch or the shared foyer. Bathroom with heated tile floor and frameless glass shower door. Queen size bed, sitting area with love seat. Flatscreen TV + WiFi Deck with table and chairs. Welcome to the Coho Cabin, a tiny house/log cabin perched atop Skagit Bay with direct westerly waterfront views of wildlife, Whidbey Island and the Olympic Mts. Built in 2007, it's an authentic log cabin, custom designed out of Alaskan Yellow Cedar. Enjoy the rustic-yet-elegant vibe, radiant heated floors, cozy loft bed, outdoor bbq and private location. Located 10 min. west of La Conner, guests can browse shops, adventure on unique hikes, or enjoy a relaxing beach stroll.
