Marquês de Tancos Residence aims to be also an Artistic Residence, exposing and revealing to our guests the work of Portuguese artists. The present exhibition of Alexandre Barão photographies – exclusively taken for Marquês de Tancos Residence – create a captivating atmosphere. In the lobbies and interior stairs you can appreciate his brilliant work and also other temporary exhibitions of Portuguese artists. At our residence in Lisbon Historic Centre, we will do everything to ensure you have the most enjoyable stay possible. Alfama is one of the oldest city districts, extending from the banks of the Tejo to the castle. Explore its many historic buildings, while the labyrinth of streets offers a tiny plaza, unique shop, funky cafe, or wonderful view around every corner. You have the subway in a 5 minutes walking distance and in 10 minutes the two train stations, Cais do Sodré, that take you to Belém and Cascais, and Restauradores, to go to Sintra. Places that you must not miss visiting! Also, you are 5 minutes from Martim Moniz, inicial stop of the famous 28 Lisbon Tram that follows a two-directional linear route: Martim Moniz – Graca – Portas de Sol – Se Cathedral – Rua Conceição (southern Baixa) – Chiado – Sao Bento – Estrela - Campo Ourique. The Marquês de Tancos Residence is a perfect starting point for anyone who wants to discover Lisbon, and we can also provide Tuk Tuks that can pick you up to take you around the city. The unit is a cozy one-bedroom apartment in the Saint George Castle walls (Castelo São Jorge), the oldest historical neighbourhood in Lisbon. You are 10min walking distance from Praça do Comércio and Alfama. Please note this is a very old building and there is limited soundproofing between units.

Our cozy apartment has 1 bedroom, a living room with a sofa bed and all amenities; we recently added air conditioning. It has a balcony with incredible views over the Tagus River. It's located next to the ticket offices of São Jorge Castle; taxis access the castle area, but Ubers do not. This is the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon; the building was also recently restored. The people in the castle are mainly locals and tourists. The atmosphere is lively during the day and quiet at night.
